Remember Me, O God, Strengthen Me Just Once More

Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “O Sovereign Lord, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes (Judges 16:28 NIV).

There is a God who remembers you when you cry out to Him. He is a God who hears the desperate cry of His children for strength.

When Samson prayed, there was a note of remembrance in it. It was a remembrance of the strength he once had.

He lost it because of his own carelessness. When he prayed he remembered how God had equipped him with strength in the past. He must have remembered how God used him to defeat their enemies the Philistines before. And he longed for one last chance to do a mighty exploit for God.

But there was a greater cry in that prayer. He wanted God to remember him. Think about this sad situation. Here was a mighty man of God who did great exploits for God.

Now he is defeated; for he had thrown away his God-given strength. And when he was now the prisoner of those over whom he had once triumphed; he was heart-broken!

Are you in such a tragic situation today? Has life turned over in such a fashion that instead of being the victor you have become the defeated one?

Cry out to your God. Plead with Him: “Remember me O my God. Strengthen me just once more!” Just once more is enough to know that He remembered!

Dear child of God; today if you are in a situation of misery because of your own sin, cry out to the God whom you knew so intimately once. Cry out to Him to remember you. Plead with Him to strengthen you just once more. And remember, you are crying out to a God who will remember you!
