“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways ,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8,9 NIV).
When your best plans fail; when your earnest prayers seem to go unanswered; when you see the sun rise for others smiling while for you it has set; know that God is not over with you yet. He is still your God; more than that He is still the Lord of this universe.
He sees and knows all. Your vision is at its very best, limited. You cannot see beyond the horizon. Think about that. You think the horizon is the end. But God knows what lies beyond.
What if the delay and the frustration in your life now is God-send? Of course, you would never have dreamed of asking for it! Why? It is simple; isn’t it? Your wisdom cannot understand the purpose of it. Therefore you would never choose to welcome it.
But when it does come; it is unpleasant and tests your faith to the limit. The biting moments of discouragement are real. You feel abandoned. You doubt whether God cares. But isn’t it really a problem of not being able to understand His ways which are higher; that is beyond your mind’s ability to grasp.
So when the lightnings flash and thunder booms; and you’re caught in the raging storm when you know not what way to take forward; when all hope is gone; think about God whose thoughts are not your thoughts.
He cannot think despair. He can only see possibilities. And the day and hour is near when He will make you see a glimpse of the higher wisdom of His ways which took you through rough roads untraveled before!
