Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give them–to the Israelites (Joshua 1:2 NIV).
The first instruction after Moses was dead was: “Get ready.” The Promised Land had to be conquered. The people were told to get ready to conquer it.
They were not asked to look back and think that Moses, their great leader, was not with them now. Instead they were given a forward vision. They were asked to get ready.
God is giving you the same instruction today. You have a task ahead. You are to get ready to accomplish that. The time of wandering in the desert is over. The time of God providing for you in miraculous ways are over.
Now is the time of surging ahead. Now is the time to obey God in a new dimension of faith. Now is the time to travel a way you have not traveled before. Therefore, get ready!
Again, God is not taking you through an easy route. He is telling you plainly that you have got to cross the Jordan River. The Promised Land lies beyond that. But you can see with your eyes that the Jordan is at flood stage during harvest time.
Don’t waver; for it is God’s command. When you get ready He will tell you how to cross it. You are not supposed to worry about it and not prepare. That could be a costly mistake. Get ready first; then God will show the way and lead you on.
The great tragedy in today’s Christian world is that people are living in complacency. They are not ready to break camp and move forward. People want to have blessings and stay where they are.
But God says to you today to get ready. You are to cross the Jordan. And pass on to the Promised Land. Conquests await you there.
But that is where true rewards come for obeying God. There lies the path of duty. It is there that you are going to learn the secrets of victory. Get ready to enjoy it. Once again, hear what God says, “Get ready!”
