Scriptural Basis of the Blood as the Means of Atonement

“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life (Leviticus 17:11).”

The infinite power of Jesus’ blood to cleanse us from all sin (1 John 1:7) lies in his perfect obedience and submission to his Father’s will—“he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8b)!

Therefore we are not redeemed with perishable things such as silver or gold, “but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect (1 Peter 1:18, 19).” Amen.

Warning: “How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29)?”
