Get Up from Your Bed of Discouragement!

Are you discouraged now? Most likely you felt close to God yesterday. Today it is back to the ordinary life. And emotionally you do not feel God near.

But God is an unchanging God (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8). He is faithful. So do not try to judge God by your feelings. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Yet another cause is unanswered prayer. You prayed long and hard but God did not answer prayer. It is a common complaint.

God is waiting for you to find strength in him. He is hoping that you will walk in the dark by faith. Someday now or in eternity you will know why God said No to your prayers.

Another kind of discouragement comes because we sin and fall. The devil jumps in at the opportunity to accuse you and condemn you.

Yes friend, it is true that you sinned. But greater than that is the forgiveness and pardon found in the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7—9). Trust in what Jesus finished on the cross (John 19:30).

Also, after a big victory for God, discouragement can set in like how it happened to Elijah (1 Kings 19:1—4). You might feel like a failure.

Leave the results of your work to God. You will never know how much your one act of obedience impacted the hearts of men and women for God.

So get up from your bed of discouragement. There is still work left for you to do.
