Able To Do Immeasurably More

I tremble as I read these words. I pray with the man in the gospel account who said, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief (Mark 9:24)!” Yes, God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). And unbelief is that one thing that can prevent it from happening.

The promise sounds too good to be true; isn’t it? But it is true because of the power of the Spirit of God at work in us to strengthen us. First and foremost this enabling work of the Spirit of God in our hearts helps us to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Oh, to be carried afloat on this immeasurable love of God!

So often we struggle and despair when negative circumstances follow our footsteps for years without end; don’t we? We forget then to believe and trust and hope in God Almighty with that same enthusiasm we had shown during good times.

Yet at some moment, as I am experiencing right now as I write these words, the peace of God floods our heart with the assurance that all is well. That God alone is sufficient to meet my needs and yours too; whatever that might be.

Yes, dear friends, I too found it difficult to trust in this promise that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. But then who are we to limit God?

Why should we be afraid to ask when the Spirit of God intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express to make our petitions in tune with the will of God? As I thought more on this, then it struck me that perhaps I am more afraid of God answering my prayers rather than God not answering it.

Yes, sometimes our prayers are faulty because of wrong motives. That is exactly why God keeps us waiting. He uses the long-drawn-out months and years to purify our innermost thoughts. And then when only the glory of God becomes our chief concern, then God is pleased to answer us immeasurably more than we asked or imagine.

Wow! God is a God of the surplus. He is the God who multiplies what was sown. The answers will come like showers of blessing; in abundance and fullness, with joy and shouts of victory when to God be all the glory.

God Give You the Grace to Overflow with Hope
