Evil is on the increase everyday. Whether you like it or not, you are constantly being exposed to evil influences.
The different kinds of evil influences that surround you are deadly. For example, the many advertisements that you see constantly make your mind a battlefield. The colorful sights and seductive sounds that abound around you all have seeds of evil in it. You are constantly under attack. You are under attack from people, circumstances and ideas.
To escape falling victim to all these, you have to be constantly on the alert. But being alert is not enough; for the evil influences when they brush against you defile your mind. The defilement keeps on increasing day by day. Even certain fearful or fantasy dreams that you see during nights can defile your spirit, mind and body. Then it starts to create a kind of negative and evil pressure in your mind. You will feel frustration as you try to get some release from this weight on your mind. You will lose your peace of mind too. Because of this defiling pressure on your mind it is possible that you snap at others for no reason and feel guilty for doing so afterwards.
The saddest thing is that such defilements when allowed to accumulate can rob you of your joy. It can also create destructive tendencies in you. It can create thoughts of inferiority and even thoughts of suicide. Thus evil influences that defile are dangerous and even murderous.
“So how can I escape from this?” You might ask this question. By God’s mercy there is a way provided for you. It is the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus is the only cleansing power that can wash away these kinds of defilements: “The blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”1
More importantly you need to consciously ask God to keep you under the protection of Jesus’ blood. This is because in this world the evil of witchcraft, occult, Satan worship, the practice of reading horoscopes, going to mediums and spiritists, the worship of the sun, moon and stars, the adoration of many self-styled spiritual gurus (both male and female), sexual perversions and indulging in many innocent-looking Satanic games are on the increase.2 In fact, it is big business and big money.
You may not be part of any of these. But when you live in a world filled with people who indulge in all these, you are constantly exposed to these evil influences. When they talk to you these evil influences will manifest in subtle ways. You may not know that it is happening because you cannot know from which background these people come from.
Therefore you should consciously be on your guard to escape these kinds of defilement. No evil can touch you if you are under the protection of Jesus’ blood. Such is the power of the blood shed by Jesus on the cross.
The Bible gives us a very strong picture of this. When the Lord delivered the Israelites from Egypt, God sent a destroying angel to kill the firstborn of the Egyptians. The Israelites were instructed to kill the Passover lamb and put some of the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they ate the lamb. Then God told them that the blood will be a sign for them on the houses they were in and He will pass over them without harming them: “No destructive plague will touch you.” Further they were commanded not to go out of their houses till morning (Ref. Exodus 12:7,12,13,22,23). Thus God protected His children through the blood of the Passover lamb when He struck down the firstborn of Egypt.
This very same protection is available to you today. Be under the blood of Jesus. Do not step out of its protection. If you step out, you will then expose yourself to all deadly evil influences that can destroy you. For you live in a world full of them: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV). They are now let loose because their allotted time is coming to an end: “But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows his time is short” (Revelation 12:12b NIV). So, the only way to escape from their fury is being under the protection of the blood of Jesus.
The Bible gives us this protection as the way to overcome Satan and his evil forces: “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11a NIV). Therefore ask Jesus to wash you and cleanse you with His blood. Ask Him to cover you under His blood. When you have the blood of Jesus over you; it is a clear sign to Satan that you belong to God. It reminds him that you were purchased by Jesus’ blood.3 It tells him that he cannot touch you nor harm you. Yes, for you, there is protection in the blood of the Lamb!
