Jesus-The Resurrection and The Life

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead was a mighty demonstration of God’s incomparably great power. It not only was his victory over death; but it also spells out this message: Jesus lives; therefore we who trust in him will also live with him, forever. This is the certainty of hope that Jesus gave to us.

He came to “free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death,” by tasting death for everyone. This he did on the cross where he suffered and died.

There on the cross he shed his precious blood for the forgiveness of the sins of all. And having tasted death, he came back to life; for it was impossible for death to hold the Author of life, Jesus Christ, the sinless One, the Son of the living God.

So also death shall have no hold over us who trust in him, because the same power of God that raised Jesus from the dead is active in our lives today. So let us have hope instead of despair!

The resurrection of Jesus Christ has destroyed death’s dominion forever. As he himself said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

Therefore we are no more uncertain. There is life after death. Yes, “man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement.” But God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from that judgement by his sacrificial death on the cross. In him is life. And “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
