New Heavens and a New Earth

Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind (Isaiah 65:17 NIV).

God creates. Man also makes a lot of things.

Yet his efforts have created a lot of destruction. The earth was corrupted by mankind which was created by God to be inhabited by man. Therefore God says that He will create a new heavens and a new earth.

We as children of God can hope for the new heavens and the new earth. But they are yet to come to pass. They are set for a time in the future that God alone knows. But we partake of the spirit of newness that God offers now itself. We are God’s new creation indeed!

But take a look at the long years you have groaned by a spirit of heaviness carried over from your past. You endured this heaviness only because you forgot the fact that you are a new creation in God. It cannot have the characteristics of the past.

Everything is new. But when your eyes are closed to this reality, then you live in your past though God has created everything new within you.

One of the chief characteristic of God’s new creation is that “the former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” Learn to practice this. Think of the newness that God has put within you.

Let go of the former things.
Let go of the glorious triumphs of the past.
Let go of the failures of the past.
Let go of those broken pieces of the past.

Think only of the newness. Its quality is beyond imagination. But as long as we are bound by the past we fail to enjoy the newness of God’s new creation.

The old creation was flawed by man’s disobedience; but the new creation will be bear the stamp of God’s glory!
