Hell

Jesus spoke truth. Prophet Isaiah said of Him: “Nor was any deceit in his mouth.” So one has to seriously consider what He spoke of hell.

He said that those who says, “You fool!” to his brother will be in danger of the fire of hell. There the fire never goes out. He said that it was better for you to lose one part of your body that was instrumental (what causes you to sin) in committing adultery than for your whole body to go into hell.

He said of those without real faith that they will be thrown outside, into the darkness. There, He added, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. He asked you not to be afraid of those who can destroy your body, instead to be afraid of God who can destroy both body and soul in hell.

Those who go to hell will see the righteous at Abraham’s side far away and long for one of them to give them a drop of water with the tip of their finger dipped in water. But alas nobody can cross over to the other side.

In hell, one will have great concern for the lost members of his family but will be unable to save them. Yes, people can be condemned to hell. It is a place of torment. Once there, there is no escape from hell. That is the place of eternal punishment.

Peter says that God did not spare angels when they sinned but sent them to hell. They are kept in gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment. That judgment can be likened to the flood of Noah’s time or the raining down of burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah. False prophets and teachers will face similar destruction.

The devil, the beast and the false prophet; the evil trio who will challenge God Almighty in the last days and also wreck great destruction on earth will be thrown into the lake of burning sulfur. There they will be tormented day and night. So it is written in the Book of Revelation. Finally death and hades will also be thrown into the lake of fire; which is the second death.

But the greatest warning was given when Jesus said that God sent Him to the world not to condemn the world but to save it through Him: He added that one who believed in Him is not condemned; but one who does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only son.

Revelation completes this thought by saying: “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

The world will be condemned only for one thing: For their refusal to believe in the Son of God and be saved!
