The Name of Jesus

There is great deal of comfort for a believer in the Name of Jesus. It is a name that God has given Jesus. This name is above every name.

And God’s purpose in this name is that, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10,11 NIV).

Therefore when you are confronted with demonic forces of sin, use this name to fight their onslaught. They all have to bow before His exalted name.

Again, the Bible declares that there is no other name through which there is salvation: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NIV).

Therefore seek refuge in His name, Jesus. It is the name that brings you salvation. That is why the Bible says: “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2:21 NIV). Therefore call on His name!

And when Jesus was born, Joseph was instructed to call the child’s name Jesus, “because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21b NIV).

His name therefore should be called upon by every believer. In every battle against sin the name of Jesus would prove a strong fortress and a refuge from the storm of temptation.

Whether people admit it or not, whether people like it or not, the truth is that there are demonic forces in the world. And since Satan understands that his time is short, in these last days, he will unleash all his fury against mankind. He will try to attack believers through his demonic forces.

Nobody who reads the four gospels can deny the existence of demons for Jesus Himself drove them out of people. And He also gave authority to his disciples over demons, and they used this authority. And once they returned with joy from their missionary visits and reported to Jesus: “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name” (Luke 10:17 NIV).

So, the name of Jesus is that exalted Name that God has given us to have victory in Christian life.

It is also to be noted that Jesus’ name should be held in high honor and should not be misused and taken in vain like we often see in movies. For a biblical example, see Acts 19:13 to 16. Verse 17 reads, “When this became known . . . they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.”
