(Part 9–Your Relationship with God)

Christian life has been compared to a race. You might grow tired during running.
Christian life has been compared to a fight. You might grow weak during the battle.
Christian life has been compared to a farmer waiting for his crops. You might grow tired of waiting patiently.

But Christian life is also one of hope. This hope comes to us not only because God is our portion for ever but also because God encourages us today.

He encourages us in different ways. Here are a few of them:

Are you discouraged today because of past sins? Remember then that the blood of Jesus shed on the cross wipes off from your life all the stains of your sins. God is asking you to forget the past. He does not want to you to dwell on former things. God is doing a new thing in your life today. He has wiped off all your sins. Your heart is now whiter than snow. Trust in God and move ahead.

Are you discouraged that your future seems to hold no hope? God says that He has plans for your future. They are meant not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future. Yesterdays efforts might have ended in failure. All hard work might not have brought any success or profit to you. Today He is speaking a word of wisdom saying, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” He is asking you to attempt something bigger than what you failed at. When you obey, you’ll find that success is yours.

Are you discouraged that your work for God has not yielded any results at all? Have you thought of giving up? You might have even counted your life to be worth nothing. But the God of encouragement says, “As for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” So do not run away from your path of duty. Return to what God has called you to do and remain faithful. It may be years from now before you see your labour rewarded. But if you remain faithful you’ll see unexpected results.

Are you discouraged because you think that you’ve failed God? Cheer up. Our God has invested in failures. He restored Peter who denied knowing Him. The only question He is asking you today is a simple question, “Friend, do you love me?” If your answer is yes, then leave the rest to Him. He will make you walk in triumph everywhere you go. And you will forget the shame of your youth.

Remember there are many promises of God in the Bible which you can hold on to. The Bible says that those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength and will soar on wings like eagles. It also says that God will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten. It means that when you hold on to God, He will transform all your defeats and all destruction that has happened in your life to your good.

All this will happen because your life is one of great significance to God. Yes, God will cause streams to flow in the desert. Your life will surely be transformed to one of rare beauty and blessing.
