You Are My Hiding Place

Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance (Psalm 32:6, 7 NIV).
David talked about the blessedness of being forgiven by God in this Psalm. But then He also described the time he was silent without confessing his sins to the Lord and the terrible effects it was having on him (v. 3, 4).

Then he confessed his sins to God and was forgiven (v. 5). Therefore, he asks everyone who is godly to pray to God when He may be found.

As a child of God, trying to live with unconfessed sin in your life is like having a live volcano exploding inside. It disturbs, drains your energy, pierces like a dagger, and burns within.

If this is part of your experience, do not delay. Run to God. Confess your sins to Him. You will find peace and forgiveness.

The mistake that many Christians often make is that they wait for a right moment to confess their sins. But the right time is now!

The more time you remain silent the farther you are traveling away from your only opportunity to find peace with God. Who knows how much more time you’ll have left to find forgiveness?

But if you confess and find forgiveness, then the mighty waters cannot touch you; whatever mighty waters might mean. For God then becomes your hiding place. There is peace and eternal security there.

Haven’t you seen little children hide in the security of the robes of their parents when they feel threatened? You too, as a child of God, can find refuge in God, who is your hiding place.

Would anyone dare to challenge God to give you up? No. This is the confidence that David had. And this is the confidence that you too can have.

Then God surrounds you with songs of deliverance. All this can happen only when you confess your sins to God. Blessed are you if God is your hiding place!
