The King of Egypt Will Not Let You Go

But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him (Exodus 3:19 NIV).

God is concerned for you. He has already dispatched His message to deliver you from whatever is holding you in bondage and slavery. But that does not mean that the king of Egypt is willing to let you go so easily.

That is why you struggle. That is why you are defeated again and again. The hold of the king of Egypt in your life is strong; for he wants you to continue as his slave.

But the amazing thing is that God knows this truth. He says that the king of Egypt will not let you go easily. Your good efforts are not enough. Only the mighty hand of God can compel the king of Egypt to release you.

But then God has a plan to do so. It is planned one step at a time. There are intervals of time between each intervention of God. That is why the delay.

You need to know that the delay does not in anyway change God’s purpose of delivering you from the king of Egypt. That has already been determined. But the delay would probably teach you a bitter lesson. The lesson that the king of Egypt is a cruel taskmaster. T

he more you show a desire towards freedom from him; the more he’ll burden you. Remember that he demanded that the Israelites produce the same quota of bricks as before.

The difference this time was they were not given any straw. The delay in your deliverance from this king of Egypt will teach you how bitter it is to serve sin and be slave to it.

The result will be that you’ll long for deliverance. You also, by this time, would have known the littleness of your own strength. You would have learned that your strength cannot even make you move a step away from the king of Egypt.

That would make you rely on God’s mighty hand. When you do so, you’ll find the mighty hand of God compelling the king of Egypt to release you step by step. The final release will come when God would destroy the power of the king of Egypt over your life permanently.

Look forward to that day and hour. It has been appointed. It will come. The mighty hand of God shall compel the king of Egypt to release you. And then you’ll know that God already knew that the king of Egypt would release you only after a bloody struggle.
