Caravans on Their Way to Egypt

As they sat down to eat their meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, balm, myrrh, and they were on their way to take them down to Egypt (Genesis 37:25).

Strange are God’s ways: His arranging of events are timed to perfection! You need not worry that you are finding yourself in an empty cistern for no fault of yours.

The dream that God has planted in your heart will not die with you there.

The caravans are coming by. Even as those who plotted your ruin because you are a dreamer are sitting by enjoying themselves; God has arranged caravans to pass by. You will be given over to them.

And from sitting still you’ll find yourself traveling. Maybe as a slave; but still that is better than facing cruelty by your own dear ones.

But where are the caravans going? They are on their way to Egypt. That much is only known. What is going to happen there is not known to you. But know that the caravans came at that time by God’s arrangement.

The timing was perfect. And to an unknown future while it leads you, do not grow disheartened. For you are going to see the fulfillment of your dreams in Egypt. You may not know where exactly is “your Egypt.” But God knows. So be of good cheer. He has sent caravans to take you there.

Finally, think about their cargo: Spices, balm and myrrh. Along with those goods, they were also carrying Joseph. If Pharaoh would have known of what worth this man would be in the future; would he not have discarded all the spices and balm and myrrh and embraced Joseph?

Ah, some caravans come to carry priceless treasure like Joseph to Egypt to make dreams come true. As for you, the hand of God in the coming of caravans will become known when those dreams come true; if not before!
