Distinction Between the Righteous and the Wicked

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not (Malachi 3:18 NIV).

There is a great question that has haunted Christians down through the centuries: “What did I get by serving God?”

This question arises when they see no fruit for their labor, when they suffer for doing the right things, and also when they find the wicked prospering. The Bible definitely answers this question especially in this passage.

The best thing that is said in this passage is that God remembers His servants. They are not forgotten. It is said that a scroll of remembrance was written in His presence.

In it whatever concerned those people who feared God and honored His name were written. It is said that God listens to the talk of His saints and He hears them. All this shows that God is very much concerned for those who serve Him.

God also declares His special ownership of those who fear and serve Him. What better thought than to hear God declare: “You are mine!” What a privilege it is to belong to God!

There is no other honor greater than this on earth. We, His servants, should always remember that God has set His seal of ownership on us. And it is based on love and compassion that He has for His servants.

God also declares that He will spare His servants in the day of His choosing. It is then that the world will really see and know the distinction that God makes between those who serve Him and those who do not.

We get perplexed by thinking within the limited time we spent on earth. But God thinks in terms of eternity.
