God’s Best Music comes from Flawed Instruments  (Part 1) Inferiority Because of Poverty

Growing up in poor circumstances and then having to live and work among the rich and powerful people can create thoughts of inferiority. When troubled under such circumstances think of Someone who gives you His company:

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9 NIV).

See, Jesus chose to become poor. Yet He never had thoughts of inferiority. Why?

Because He knew that He was the Son of God. Are you any less? Has not God called you His child: “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1a NIV).

The best exercise you can give your mind is to remind yourself over and over, again and again, that you are a child of the Almighty God. Yes, you are the child of God; for whom Christ died.

And the child of God is a prince or princess. Maybe it may not be obvious on the outside. But then the kingdom of God is within you. Its beauty and splendor shall shine through no matter how poor your circumstances are or how shabby the dresses you wear are.

Think of the treasure that you hold within you. You hold the Son of God within you. That treasure is worth more than all the riches of this world. You need only to remind yourselves of it more often.

And finally, in Paul’s words, you have an opportunity like no one else.: “. . . poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.” (2 Corinthians 10b NIV). You can make many rich because the greatest of all riches, the Son of God, is your possession!
