“New” is a powerful sell-word.
Yet to know its absolute power one has to believe the promise of God who says, ” Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
The great message of Christmas is that no one needs to remain in his past. There is hope for the future. God, who stepped into human history and changed the lives of individuals, communities and nations can help you break with a negative past. He can give you strength and courage to step forward into the new thing that God is doing in your life today.
It might look impossible. But the Christmas story says, “For nothing is impossible with God.” He changes times and seasons. It is when he does so; for he is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” it is then that we will know the transforming power of God.
When this Mighty God does a new thing in your life; he will govern its execution and one will be able to close the door he opens for you. The authority is his; so also the power to do what he has promised. Christmas is not only God having done a great thing in human history; it is more of God doing a new thing your life today. Believe it!
