7 Gestures of God’s Grace Towards You!

When Jesus was born he was placed in a manger; the place where the cattle fed. It clearly tells you and me he is willing to be part of our lives however lowly a station in life we occupy. His humble birth was the beginning of several gestures of God’s grace towards you.

#1. The Gesture of Standing Along with Us
When Jesus began his public life, the first thing he who was sinless did was to come and stand along with sinners at the River Jordan to be baptized.

It was a sign of God’s grace that he was nicknamed “A Friend of Sinners”: so that never for a moment you need to doubt you are without a true friend. He is a friend who sticks closer to you than a brother or sister and he understands all you pass through!

#2. The Gesture of Stooping Low
At the Last Supper, he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing and wrapped a towel around his waist. He then poured water into a basin, and washed his disciples’ feet and dried them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He did the task that was reserved for the lowliest servants of the household.

Truly, this was a sign of God’s grace that he stooped down low to lift us up with dignity as sons and daughters of God; and showed us that to lead meant to serve!

#3. The Gesture of the Burden–Bearing
He carried the cross to his death.

It was a sign of God’s grace that he is willing to carry your burdens daily for you!

#4. The Gesture of Forgiveness-Lifted High
He was lifted high on a cross for all the world to see. He was the innocent Lamb of God slain for us; the one sacrifice for our salvation.

It was a sign of God’s grace that his precious blood flowed to bring forgiveness of our sins, peace with God and life everlasting.

#5. The Gesture of a King Being Crowned
He was crowned with a crown of thorns.

It was a sign of God’s grace that all the curses of this earth that otherwise would have fallen on us he bore for us on the tree of the cross.

#6. The Gesture of Arms Wide Open
On the cross his arms were stretched wide open; even when they were nailed.

It was and still is a sign of God’s grace that he died telling us that heaven’s door has been stretched wide open to all who will come through the way of the cross.

#7. The Gesture of the Empty Grave
He was buried in a borrowed tomb.

It was a sign of God’s grace that he left it empty; and is alive for ever more giving us the sure certainty that for those who trust in him; their tombs will also be empty one day. On that day the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

Response
These gestures tell us of God’s immeasurable love towards us. Let us open our hearts and accept his love and know the true sense of belonging to the One who sacrificed himself for us!
