The Lord Your God Will Himself Cross Over Ahead

The Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you (Deuteronomy 31:3a NIV).

There is a change of leadership here. Moses had to step aside and Joshua was the new leader. And He was given the charge to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land.

But the important person here was neither Moses nor Joshua. The real leader of the people was God Himself.

Therefore Moses reminded the Israelites that God Himself will cross over ahead of them. Reflecting on this truth; think whether you are experiencing God who crosses over ahead of you wherever you go?

Because it is a real privilege and blessing to follow; when God has gone ahead of you.

Secondly, when God crosses over ahead of you, it means that He is very much interested in the outcome of the mission. God crosses ahead to lead the way; to guide you, to protect you and even prepare the way for you.

In other words, God does the majority of the work; though what He does and how He does it is often unseen.

The only work that then remains for you is to carefully obey any specific instructions He has given you on the task ahead. If you meet those conditions; then success is assured for God has gone ahead of you.

The final and best thing about God crossing over ahead of you is that it forms the foundation of your courage and confidence. Even when the enemy or opposition seems strong, formidable and threatening; you can face them with boldness.

This comes from the knowledge that God has gone ahead of you and He wants you to succeed because His plans are at stake. Even better is the fact that God goes along with you as you cross over.

He also stays along with you saying, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
